The Organizing Committee of the Beijing Olympic Games has kicked off one of its major projects for the Olympic Games – the project for the interior designing of furnishing & decoration for the IBC, and the projects for the affiliated facilities (being in charged by the subordinative bodies).
The project for the Games – the International Broadcasting Centre employs the exhibition part of the State Convention Centre. The building is located at the west to the central area of the Olympic Park, bounded by Jingguan Road West, Datun Road, Jinggaun Road, and Zhongyi Road. Total construction area is 139950 sq m.
The International Broadcasting Centre, as a functional centre for the operations of TV broad casting of live reporting on the Beijing Olympic Games, not only is the base camp for 16000 professionals with TV media, but also is the hub of broadcasting for 4 billion TV audiences around the world.
The sources said, the tender is only open to all those with A class accreditation in the overall category, A class accreditation of specialty decoration designing and audio & video specialty designing in the speciality categories in China, especially welcome those institutions equipped with rich experiences in designing of broadcasting centre for large scale of sporting events and designing of work stations such as radio broadcasting station etc. And also alliance either between or among top tier architect institutions intending to bid is permitted.
The design should not only focus on the theme of “New Beijing; New Olympic Game” and the three key conceptions namely as “Green Olympic Games; Scientific & technological Olympic Games; Humanitarian Olympic Games”, but also fully bring forth the Chinese cultures and humanitarian compassion under the conditions that it should follow the requirements set forth in the media technical manual of the International Olympic Committee and ensure a high efficiency of TV broadcasting for media.
