Shanghai has accelerated the pace for the development of renewable energy application by adjusting the measures to the local conditions of Shanghai, the Municipal Government of Shanghai is going to set long term planning and conduct integrated implementation process during the period of “the eleventh five year plan”.

Specifically, the city is going to build up a large scale of wind farm power generation station, the capacity is projected to reach 200000 – 300000 kw by 2010, while the solar energy generation capacity will reach 7- 10 x1000 mega w by 2010, and there will be 10 new model projects featured with the combination of solar energy and construction to be in place in each year, and more will be some solar energy powered water heater system, wastage powered electricity generation projects. At the same time, the government will support 3-4 solar battery manufacturing companies, and R & D in the facilities for 2 or over mw wind electricity generation capacity, and develop hydrogen powered vehicles, and the infrastructure.

The generic strategy for Shanghai in the promotion of new energy powered vehicles is, to move a big step for the development of battery fuelled vehicles by pushing up combined fuel industrialization, continue to promote the commercialisation of fuel substitution. Before 2008, a new generation of battery fuelled vehicle developed with own patent is going to be completed, starting off to add over hundred vehicles on the roads for illustration purpose; by year 2009, the capacity will be over 1000 vehicles, and over 10000 vehicles by 2011 – 2012.
